UWR’s first season in Radical Cup UK ended at Donington Park on 26–27 September with a podium and, by the team’s count, third place in the overall championship standings.
Shane Kelly brought the #11 Radical SR3 XXR home in the first race and was promoted to second following post-race decisions. The second race ended in a DNF after technical problems — a frustrating close to the weekend, but not enough to dislodge the team from third overall.
A first season in one of the UK’s toughest prototype grids, and the students finish it on the podium.
For the student crew, Donington capped a year of rapid learning: a podium at the Brands Hatch opener, a front-running qualifying lap at Oulton Park, and a painful lesson in the rulebook at Silverstone, where a net second place became tenth after a 30-second penalty.
What’s next
Attention now turns to the off-season — strip-down, rebuild, and the annual trip to Autosport International at the NEC in January, where UWR has exhibited every year since 2015.
Note: positions here are as reported by UWR. Final classifications and points tables are published by the championship organiser.
