The programme

Designed in-house.

Launched in 2024, Wolf RS is a design-and-build project for a racing car “with potential for the market” — teaching business and enterprise principles alongside engineering. The first stage, a hillclimb single-seater chassis, was shown at Autosport International in January 2025; the plan is to re-engineer it into a circuit-racing single-seater.

Why build your own?

Running customer cars teaches preparation and race engineering. Building your own teaches everything upstream: concept, packaging, structures, suppliers, costs and the business case.

02

Hillclimb heritage

UWR students already know the discipline — in 2017–18 they engineered and crewed for Graham Wynn OBE’s 700bhp Gould GR55 in the British Hillclimb Championship, setting fastest time of the weekend at Shelsey Walsh in August 2018.
